Dream catchers are typically made up of small wooden hoops covered in a net or web of natural fibers, with meaningful sacred items like feathers and beads, hanging down from the bottom of the hoop. Some people found them to be a symbol of protection and comfort. People also believe that dream catchers were traditionally used as talismans to protect sleeping people, usually children, from bad dreams and nightmares.

When a dream catcher is hung above the bed in a place where the morning sunlight can hit it, the dream catcher attracts all sorts of dreams and thoughts to its webs. Good dreams pass through and gently slide down the feathers to the sleeper below while bad dreams are caught in its protective net and destroyed, burned up in the light of day.

I personally love dream catchers and I loved painting this piece. It is colourful and the colours look beautiful together. It’s eye catching and mystical.
